The senior citizens get together once a month on Clachan Road for social and trips down memory lane. They often lend support for coffee mornings, ceilidhs and bingo. They also invite other groups to their cosy hut every 2nd Friday for talks on Ardersier History, aviation and demonstrations.
There is a “membership” fee of £10 and with 20 or so at present it goes towards days out like a trip on the Cairngorm funicular and high tea afterwards and Xmas dinner is also paid for through this membership.
The “Friendship Club” meets on the last Tuesday of the month and they invite speakers on everything from door step crime to safety at home. There is a very interesting project “Old-for-Old” where locals like Jess McLennan and Jim Ewing (well, New Zealand) have spoken to camera about their childhood in Ardersier to wartime stories. These are going onto DVD and hopefully we may have a few clips to share on here soon.
More to come!
